Import your client list from a CSV
Bring your existing clients into FreshFSM by uploading a CSV export from Jobber, HouseCall Pro, or any spreadsheet. The import walks you through matching columns and reviewing every client before anything is saved.
Last updated June 10, 2026
If you are switching from another platform or have been keeping clients in a spreadsheet, you do not have to retype them. The client import reads a CSV file, helps you match its columns to FreshFSM fields, and lets you review and fix every client before anything is imported. Exports from Jobber and HouseCall Pro are recognized automatically. You need to be signed in as an owner, admin, or office user to import, and the import runs from the web dashboard.
Importing your clients
All devicesThe whole process takes a few minutes, and nothing is saved until the final step, so you can back out at any point.
- 1
Export your client list as a CSV
From your old software, export your clients as a CSV file. Jobber and HouseCall Pro exports work as is. If your list lives in Excel or Google Sheets, use Save As or Download and choose CSV. Each client needs at least a first name, last name, or company name. Email, phone, address, tags, lead source, and notes are optional, but include them if you have them.
- 2
Open the import tool
Go to Clients and click Import, then drop your CSV file into the upload area or click to browse for it.

Match your columns
FreshFSM reads your file and matches each column to a field, showing sample values from your data so you can check its work. If you exported from Jobber or HouseCall Pro, everything is usually matched for you. Columns highlighted in amber need a quick decision: pick the right field from the dropdown, or choose Skip to leave that column out. You need at least a name or company column mapped before you can continue.
- 4
Group clients with multiple addresses (optional)
If the same client appears on several rows with different addresses, map a Source Client ID column. Rows that share the same ID are combined into one client with multiple properties instead of being imported as duplicates. If FreshFSM notices repeated names in your file, it offers this option before you continue.
- 5
Review and fix
Next you see every client from your file with a status: ready to import, has warnings, or has errors. Errors, like a missing name or an incomplete address, block that row until you fix it. Click Edit on any row to correct details right there. Warnings, like a missing email or phone, are just a heads-up and do not block the import.
- 6
Run the import
Select the clients you want and click Import. When it finishes, the results screen shows how many clients and addresses were added and how many duplicates were skipped. Addresses are placed on the map automatically in the background, and you can watch that progress on the same screen.
Check your import worked
- On the results screen, confirm the counts: clients added, addresses added, and duplicates skipped.
- Click View Your Clients and search for a few people from your spreadsheet to confirm they are there.
- Open one imported client and check that their contact details and addresses look right.
- If you mapped a notes column, open that client's Notes section to confirm the notes came across.
